Purpose Statement
A Million for the Master exists to implement programs and services
that promote the spiritual, economic, social and political viability
of the African American community. In so doing, A Million for
the Master seeks to create close ties between Trinity United Church
of Christ and the communities it serves. This will be accomplished
through constant exchange and activism within our communities,
around those issues that most effect African Americans and through
collaborative work with other outreach ministries of TUCC. AMFTM
is focused on bringing the Church into the community and bringing
the community into the Church.
History
A Million for the Master (AMFTM) was born after the successful
Million Man March, Day of Atonement, held on October 16, 1995.
On that day over two million men and women, primarily of African
decent, gathered in Washington, D.C. to take a stand for themselves,
their families and their communities. Several hundred of that
number were members of Trinity United Church of Christ. A Million
for the Master was founded, a brain child of Rev. Jeremiah A.
Wright, as a means of building upon the vision and momentum of
the March within Trinity and within our communities.
Current Activities:
Joint Partners with the Employment ministry for the 1st Annual
Job Fair, Church as a Safe Space, KidCare ID, Updating of the
Trinity Black Business Directory and publishing of our own Newsletter.
